School bus fire closes roads in downtown Denver

DENVER — Denver police shut down roads in the area of 18th and Tremont streets near downtown after a school bus fire caught fire on Tuesday morning.

According to the Denver Fire Department children on the bus were safely evacuated and no one was hurt.

Heavy smoke was seen in the area near the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa. The fire started in the engine compartment of the bus which was badly damaged.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
