GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. — Traffic on Interstate 70 was slowed Monday after boulders crashed onto the highway in Glenwood Canyon, the Colorado Department of Transportation said.

The boulders fell early Monday morning near Hanging Lake Tunnel (milemarker 124).

CDOT’s GeoHazards team was mobilized to evaluate the slope. CDOT’s “boulder buster” will be brought in to remove the boulders.

Both directions of Interstate 70 will have intermittent stops on Monday as crews work to remove the boulders.

CDOT will have timely traffic updates on its website.
