Clothing store chain Anthropologie is selling a “West Village” trash can for $99.95, and people are not holding back their opinions.

The trash can is described on Anthropologie’s website as a “handmade” tin can with a “mango wood or abaca rope handle.”

The cans look like the ones that have been used throughout New York City for years, a fact that’s referenced in the “West Village” title.

However, full-size tin garbage cans are available at hardware stores for less than a quarter of the price.

Comments on the product page range from complimentary to outright despair.

One reviewer wrote, “Anthropologie, really?! Are you serious? $100 for a rusty trash can!!”

Another reviewer, using the name “GrouchyGuyOscar” wrote, “O the humanity how did we come to this? Other than that, awesome can!”
