AURORA, Colo. -- A 10-year-old girl riding in a minivan her mother was driving died in a rollover crash on Monday, the Aurora Police Department said.

The three-vehicle crash happened at East 16th Avenue and Del Mar Parkway about 5:30 p.m.

Police said the driver of a Kia Sedona minivan turned left from 16th to Del Mar Parkway in front of a Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The Chrysler hit the side of the Kia, causing it to flip onto its side.

The 33-year-old woman driving the Kia had her three children in the vehicle. The impact killed her 10-year-old daughter. The woman, her 11-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter went to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The driver in the Chrysler, a 46-year-old woman, also went to the hospital. She is expected to recover.

The Kia slid into a third vehicle that was stopped at a red light. The two men in that car were not injured.

Traffic investigators said there is no indication drug or alcohol impairment contributed to this crash. They said they believe the 10-year-old victim was in a booster seat, but that it was not secured properly in the vehicle.

Any charges against the driver of the Kia are pending until the investigation is complete, police said.
