Four arrested, one at-large after shooting, crash in Denver
DENVER — Four suspects were arrested and one one remains at large after a shooting, pursuit and crash in Denver on Sunday morning.
It happened in the area of South Federal Boulevard and West Florida Avenue, the Denver Police Department said.
Police said there were three groups of people. Someone in the first group said something to upset the other two groups and someone in the second group fired a shot at the first groups’ vehicle.
Police were called by the first group; the second group jumped into a red Jeep Wrangler and the third group got into a blue Jeep Cherokee, with both groups fleeing the scene.
Police said they believed the two groups knew each other.
The red Wrangler was able to get away, police said, while a short pursuit with the blue Cherokee led to a crash into an unrelated citizen’s Toyota sedan close to where the original incident happened.
There were no injuries to anyone in the first group’s car from the shooting or anyone in the citizen vehicle from the crash, police said.
Five people jumped out of the Cherokee and four of them were arrested by police. The other suspect fled on foot, police said.
There were no additional details on the people in the red Wrangler or the person who was not arrested from the blue Cherokee as of Sunday afternoon.
Florida Avenue was closed from Federal Boulevard to Elliot Street for an unspecified amount of time while police investigated.
