EVERGREEN, Colo. — A large home burned to the ground near Floyd Hill on Monday morning, Evergreen Fire Rescue said.

The fire was called in by a neighbor at 494 Ponderosa Drive. The area is not served by fire hydrants and water had to be sent to the scene with tenders.

Crews from Clear Creek Fire, Foothills Fire and Genesee Fire helped put out the fire beginning about 5:30 a.m.

The quick action by firefighters kept the fire from spreading, but the home burned to the ground. More than 25 firefighters and nearly 15 fire trucks battled the fire.

No one was home at the time the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
