DENVER -- A video shows a Christmas Grinch running toward his car sneaking away with a family's front porch packages.

“We were down in Florida visiting great grandma,” Stefan Norton said. “I was standing in line for something there and I got an alert on my phone. I looked at it and it was the guy taking the packages and loading it into his car there."

How is this simultaneous video possible? At Norton's front door, it's called the Ring System. It immediately notifies homeowners when there is movement at the front door.

“You come up to it and it triggers a motion alarm and sends a 'Hey there's activity at your door,' Norton said.

The man took the packages after taking similar packages from neighbors.

In Colorado, the Postmaster General declined to say how big of a problem package theft is. There are roughly 1,600 packages reported stolen per year.
