SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – A young girl from upstate New York whose wish for Christmas cards went viral is getting what she wished for and more.

Safyre Terry was badly burned in an arson fire that killed her family two years ago.

Burned over 75 percent of her body, Terry also lost her right hand and left foot.

But this holiday season she had one wish: to fill up her card tree with Christmas cards.

She’s been flooded with cards, and more than $150,000 has been raised through a You Caring page.

Terry’s aunt, Liz Dolder, helped spread the wish that led to the outpouring of Christmas cheer.

“We can’t keep it to ourselves, we have to share her with the world. She’s got a message, she’s a living message of hope, faith, and love. But you’ve got to believe in that hope, faith, and love,” Dolder said.
