ARVADA, Colo. — The ashes of a deceased woman that were stolen from the back of her husband’s car in Arvada over the weekend have been returned.

The FOX31 Denver Problem Solvers first reported on the theft Sunday night.

It’s believed the thief or thieves ransacked Eddy Prescott’s vehicle late Saturday night. When Prescott checked on his car Sunday morning, multiple items were gone, including a chest containing his wife’s ashes.

Lori Prescott died three years ago on Dec. 8 after a short battle with cancer. She and Eddy had been together for more than 25 years.

Eddy was devastated when he learned Lori’s ashes had been stolen.

He reached out to the FOX31 Denver Problem Solvers. On Sunday night, we reported on the theft and had a large response from our viewers.

According to Prescott, whoever stole his wife’s ashes dropped them off at a church, which then contacted Eddy.
