COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The growing use of armored vehicles by police departments has been met with some criticism.

But there is no denying those vehicles played a key role in saving lives during the deadly attack at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic.

Police used the vehicles to shield and protect people as they removed them from harm's way to safe places.
