Police identify 20-year-old victim after homicide in Denver

DENVER — Denver Police identify the victim following a homicide investigation that started on Friday morning.

The investigation began at the 3300 block of Dahlia Street near the Park Hill neighborhood, according to authorities. It was originally a death investigation, but Denver Police upgraded it to a homicide investigation around 9:30 a.m.

The victim was identified on Monday as a 20-year-old Denver resident Joel Gomez-Chavez, officials reported.

An autopsy determined cause of death was from multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was deemed a homicide.
