DENVER -- In life, timing is everything. Whether you are 8 or 80, being in the right place at the right time is the key.

Ten-year-old Nate Tharp of Superior knows a little about timing. And rhythm. He has been playing the drums since he was 7 years old.

“You have to keep the beat down or else it will throw off the other band members,” the young drummer boy said.

When Nate plays, it’s not hard to hear. As a matter of fact, Nate’s beat has been heard in New York.

Nate has been invited to audition in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s latest Broadway musical "School of Rock."

Problem is, it’s easier for Nate and his family to raise the goblet of rock than it is to raise the funds he needs to travel to New York. The trip will cost around $2,000, which the Tharp family just doesn’t have right now.

“It’s heartbreaking to tell him no,” Nate's mother Tina Tharp said.

That’s why a family friend created a GoFundMe account on the Tharp’s behalf.

“It tears me up that so many people believe in Nate,” Tina Tharp said.

It’s not the end of the world if Nate doesn’t make the audition, but it sure could be the beginning of a new one if he does.
