Bomb squad recovers item from evacuated charter school

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Ricardo Flores Magon Academy was evacuated because of a suspicious device reported Tuesday afternoon.

It happened around 2 p.m. at the school at 5301 Lowell Blvd. The school and surrounding homes were evacuated.

A charter school lead said all students were evacuated and were safe as police continued their investigation.

Officers from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and Adams County Fire Rescue were on the scene, which was clearing around 3 p.m.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad recovered an item, which will be processed for potential evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
