Thornton police: Driver rams car into patrol vehicle, leads chase

WESTMINSTER, Colo. — A suspect was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after ramming the car she was driving into a patrol vehicle and leading a chase, the Thornton Police Department said.

Police said officers came upon a suspicious white Honda near Colorado Boulevard and East 94th Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Police said the driver began to ram the officers’ vehicle and one officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.

The driver took off and was pursued by police. A neighboring agency assisted with stop sticks and the the vehicle was stopped with a PIT maneuver at Sheridan Boulevard and West 80th Avenue in Westminster.

The suspect was taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure. It’s not known if drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.

No officers were injured.
