GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. — Greenwood Village Police continue their investigation into a an alleged assault by a P.E. teacher at Campus Middle School in Cherry Creek.  Police say they hope to turn the case over to the District Attorney soon.

“It was a bruise probably about that big,” said Clara who is a student at Cherry Creek Campus Middle School. “He hit me pretty hard and it hurt.”

Clara says last Thursday her Cherry Creek schools Physical Education teacher Chris Connelly used a stack of papers and smacked her. Clara says the school punishment did not fit the school crime.

“I don’t know why he got mad at us for talking because everybody else was talking too,” she said.

One person who wants answers is her mother. Renee Hill filed a police report and says Cherry Creek schools placed Connelly on administrative leave after. But Hill argues the school’s actions aren’t sufficient.

“I hope that the teacher will not be allowed back to the school. Perhaps he should look into another vocation where he’s not around children,” Hill said.

Cherry Creek Schools says placing the teacher on administrative leave is routine for these types of situations. They school denies the girl was injured and said they do not believe the teacher will be charged.
