LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A lockdown at three Lakewood schools was lifted Monday morning after reports of a man nearby with a gun turned out to be an honor guard rifle, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Jefferson County Public Schools spokeswoman Michelle Lyng said McClain Community High School (13600 W. Second Place), Warren Tech (13300 W. Second Place) and Longview High School (13301 W. Second Place) were placed on the lockdown. The schools are near Red Rocks Community College.

Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis said someone called dispatch to say they saw a man with some kind of gun.

Police searched the area and determined the gun was an honor guard rifle.
