DENVER -- While some people might have Monday off work because of the Columbus Day holiday, others will have a new look on the morning commute.
A new configuration of lanes for eastbound Sixth Avenue heading into downtown was set up over the weekend.
The ramp onto northbound and southbound Interstate 25 is in its final alignment.
The Colorado Department of Transportation said drivers will need to be ready to exit sooner to get onto I-25 because the exit starts near Federal Boulevard.
The traffic shift also will allow for the reopening of the Lowell Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound Sixth Avenue.
The CDOT Sixth Avenue project is expected to be done by the end of the month, nearly a year ahead of schedule.
