Two men pronounced dead, one boy injured in Downing Street shooting

Two men were killed and another injured after shooting outside a store at 35th Avenue and Downing Street in Denver on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015.

DENVER — One day after a triple shooting outside a convenience store and gas station and near a car wash in the Five Points neighborhood, the Denver Police Department said Wednesday it is now being investigated as a double homicide.

Three men were shot outside a Jenny’s Market near East 35th Avenue and Downing Street about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Police found two victims, an adult male and a juvenile male, and transported them to Denver Health with gunshot wounds. A third adult male was transported by private vehicle to a local hospital.

Travis Kimbrough-Sanders, 34, of Denver and Sergio Evelynmoe, 28, were pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death in both cases was gunshot wounds and both deaths were ruled homicides by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.

The juvenile is being treated for his injuries and is expected to survive.
