Man shot in Fort Collins family disturbance; suspect in custody

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — A man was shot during a family disturbance on Saturday night, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The shooting happened at about 10:37 p.m. inside a home in the 3300 block of East Locust Street, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found a man who had been shot in the hand.

The 29-year-old man was taken to an area hospital. His identity and condition were not released.

William Howard, 55, was found by deputies inside the house with the firearm. He later surrendered and was taken into custody.

The sheriff’s office said Howard complained of illness and was taken to an area hospital.

He was later booked into the Larimer County Jail on charges of first-degree assault, menacing, prohibited use of a weapon and domestic violence.
