AURORA, Colo. -- Three people were taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after a two-alarm fire started by a 4-year-old using a lighter damaged an apartment building, the Aurora Fire Department said.

The fire broke out about 9:45 a.m. at the Abrigo Apartments at 12170 E. 30th Ave.

Two residents and an Aurora police officer were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, and a dog had to be resuscitated by crews, Aurora Fire Capt. Diane Schroeder said.
