DENVER — Being the early bird might not always be best when it comes to getting out the door for school.

Many parents are pushing for a 10 a.m. start time, citing researchers from Harvard and Oxford who say high school should start later.

Given teenagers’ sleep patterns, the ideal school start time could be as late as 11:30 a.m. Researchers say it won’t promote laziness. The idea is to help students learn more, perform better on tests and even have a more pleasant attitude.
