Head-on crash in Lakewood sends seven victims to hospital

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Seven people were taken to a hospital after a a head-on crash Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. on Wadsworth Boulevard just north of Sixth Avenue, the Lakewood Police Department said.

Police said a blue GMC Denali traveling at a high rate of speed southbound, crossed the median, went up on the east sidewalk and continued on the sidewalk before striking a gold Tahoe with six passengers inside.

The Tahoe then spun and bounced around before hitting the Denali again, police said.

All passengers involved were transported to a hospital.  The extent of their injuries is unknown, but all are expected to survive.

It’s not clear if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
