WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- A driver who hit a pedestrian and got out of her car to help him was killed late Thursday night when she was struck by another vehicle, the Westminster Police Department said.

The incident happened at 102nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard about 8:45 p.m. The man who was hit first was in critical condition at a hospital.

The pedestrian "suddenly" entered the southbound lanes of Federal in a dimly lit section when he was hit, police said.

As the driver got out of her truck to check on the man, she was struck by a vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that car stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered factors in the incidents, police said.
