Car fire partially closes westbound I-70 near Genesee

A vehicle fire forced the partial closure of westbound Interstate 70 near Genesee on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015.

GENESEE, Colo. — A vehicle caught fire and partially closed westbound Interstate 70 near Genesee on Thursday morning.

The vehicle caught fire just before 8 a.m. at mile marker 254. Crews worked to reopen the left two lanes but the right lane remained closed as crews worked to clean up the scene.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said to expect delays in the area. It’s not known when the full interstate will reopen.

The cause of the fire is not known.
