18-year-old arrested in shooting death of juvenile outside Aurora apartment complex

AURORA, Colo. — An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder after a shooting outside an apartment complex left one juvenile dead and another juvenile injured, the Aurora Police Department said.

The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the complex at 1568 N. Nome St. After officers responded on a report of a weapons offense, they found a 14-year-old and 17-year-old with gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to hospitals, but the 14-year-old was pronounced dead. The extent of the injuries to the second victim was not released.

The names and genders of the victims were not released.

James Jason Lee, 18, was arrested and charged in the shooting, police said, adding no other suspects are being sought. It’s not known what, if any, connection Lee has with the victims.
