4.2-magnitude earthquake hits west of Trinidad

LAS ANIMAS COUNTY, Colo. — A moderate earthquake hit southern Colorado late Wednesday night.

The 4.2-magnitude quake was centered 24 miles west of Trinidad in the mountains southwest of Weston at 11:14 p.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake had a depth of 3.1 miles.

No injures or damage have been reported.

The USGS shake map showed the quake was mostly felt in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico.
