Car crashes into fire hydrant in east Denver

DENVER -- A car collided with a fire hydrant on Tuesday afternoon in east Denver, resulting in serious injuries, the Denver Police Department said.

The accident happened at East 11th Avenue and South Syracuse Street just after 4 p.m.

Police were on scene and closed northbound Syracuse Street at East 10th Avenue.

The extent of the injuries and the cause of the crash were not released.
