AURORA, Colo. -- A tornado warning was issued for Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

At least one funnel cloud was seen over northwestern Arapahoe County in Aurora and surrounding metro areas.

FOX31 Denver meteorologists said no funnel cloud touched down. People inside Denver International Airport were ordered to take shelter.

Flights at DIA were on ground hold during the tornado warning and were expected to experience delays in spite of the warning being canceled.

Passengers were being urged to check their flight status for Tuesday afternoon and evening. There were also traffic delays on C-470, Interstate 25 in the Tech Center, I-225 and Parker Road because of the warnings coinciding with rush hour.
