EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a juvenile who escaped from the Department of Youth Corrections.

Alyxander Yawn, 18, was at the Presbyterian Saint Luke Hospital in Denver on Tuesday with a Department of Youth Corrections officer.  While in the examination room, his restraints were removed at the request of the doctor. Yawn then went into the restroom.

After approximately one minute, the corrections officer went to check on Yawn and he was gone.  He had fled through the adjoining door, which was unsecure.

Denver police was notified of the escape, but because of his sentence for misdemeanor charges out of El Paso County, the sheriff’s office issued a warrant for his escape, which is a Class 3 misdemeanor.

Yawn was last seen wearing gray pants and burgundy/purple short sleeve polo shirt.

Anyone with information to Yawn’s whereabouts is asked to contact Det. Scott Mackey with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office at 719-390-5555.
