Police fish man out of South Platte River

DENVER — A man tubing down the South Platte River was fished out of the river Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Denver Police said officers responded to a welfare check call for the man. Denver Police also said the man may have been armed. The man was tubing down the South Platte and police followed the man as he made his way down the rive.r

Police were able to apprehend the man in the river around 5 p.m. and bring him back to shore.

No word from police on his condition.

Police activity closed the southbound ramp to Santa Fe Drive from I-25 at 5:17 p.m. with no estimated time of reopening.
