BRIGHTON, Colo. -- A big plume of black smoke visible from many parts of metro Denver during the evening commute Tuesday was a greenhouse that caught fire.

Reports indicated the fire broke out at the Horiuchi Bros. Greenhouse, 16315 Tucson Street in Brighton.

Video from SkyFox showed that several greenhouses on the property were damaged.

Horiuchi Bros. started in the 1950s as a vegetable plant starter greenhouse for the family farm. The company's Facebook page said it was a premium wholesale and retail greenhouse for annual bedding plants, vegetables and perennials.

The greenhouse was since abandoned, according to reports Tuesday from Brighton Fire Rescue.
