Man escaped from Trinidad Correctional Facility captured in Kansas

TRINIDAD, Colo. — A 62-year-old man escaped from the Trinidad Correctional Facility on Thursday around 3:30 p.m. He was captured in Johnson, Kansas at 7:15 p.m. after a long chase.

The escapee was identified as Douglas Beagley by the state’s Department of Corrections.

Authorities reported that Beagley was assigned to an outside work crew and was operating a white, Ford, single axle, dually, dump truck.

The dump truck has the Colorado license plate number 870-BAW was last seen headed west on Highway 350 towards Trinidad. The truck has the Colorado Department of Corrections logo on both sides.

Beagley was serving an 18-year sentence for convictions on burglary and vandalism in Mesa County.
