Three arrested in homicide of 14-year-old boy

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A 14-year-old was shot and killed early Saturday morning near Memorial Park.

Police responded to a call at 2:08 a.m. of shots fired and a shooting victim in the area of Pike Peak Avenue and Farragut Avenue. The responding officers found a juvenile male with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died. The victim has been identified as Desmond Smith, 14, from Colorado Springs.

According to police, the investigation determined probable cause to arrest three Colorado Springs men in connection to the shooting.

Raymond Rogan Jr., 18, and Riccardo Kirven, 31, were arrested for first-degree murder. And Raymond Rogan Sr., 35, was arrested for accessory to first-degree murder after the fact and tampering with evidence.

The investigation continues, but police said they do not expect any additional arrests to be made.
