Woman killed, man injured in Mt. Yale lightning strike identified

Mt. Yale in Chaffee County, Colo.

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. — Police have identified the woman killed and a man injured in a lightning strike Friday afternoon on Mount Yale.

31-year-old Kathleen Bartlett from Denver has been identified as the woman who died in the lightning strike. The 32-year-old man airlifted to Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs Friday has been identified as Ryan Pocius from Denver.

He was listed in stable condition Friday night. The Chaffee County Undersheriff had no updates on his condition as of Saturday.

Two other people who were hit by the lightning strike were treated and released on the scene.

Emergency calls came in from people nearby and search-and-rescue crews were dispatched to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
