CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Thousands of people flooded social media with responses to the verdict in the Aurora theater shooting trial on Thursday.

For the most part, tweets and posts focused on healing and support with the hash tag #LoveToAurora.

Earlier Thursday afternoon, #LoveToAurora was trending in Denver. About an hour later, it was trending around the country.

While some shared their compassion for victims, their families and the Aurora community, others such as Jessica Ghawi’s brother used his platform to discuss the shooter’s fate. Jessica Ghawi was one of the 12 victims killed by the shooter on July 20, 2012.

For others, like Bethany G @303_B, each verdict read felt like a weight being lifted off their shoulders.
