LOVELAND, Colo. — A 37-year-old Loveland woman was arrested Tuesday night and charged with attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed an acquaintance at his home, the Loveland Police Department said Wednesday.

Police said witnesses told officers that Bernadette Vasquez, 37, went to the home of 45-year-old acquaintance at 2150 W. 15th St. about 6:30 p.m. When the man answered the door, Vasquez produced a knife and began to stab him.

A neighbor heard the attack and stopped the attack, then was able to take the victim to his home to bandage him. The victim was then taken to McKee Medical Center by the neighbor before police were called.

Vasquez returned to her nearby apartment where she was later arrested without incident, police said. Vasquez was booked into the Larimer County Jail where she is being held on attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

The name and condition of the victim were not released.
