DENVER -- There is a growing petition to get downtown Denver bars to stay open later.

Current law mandates all bars and nightclubs in the state must stop selling alcohol at 2 a.m.

But a petition is trying to keep bar open until 4 a.m. So far, the petition has garnered more than 3,000 signatures.

Supporters say that by allowing a 4 a.m. last call, the end of the night will be more manageable for police officers and cabs.

But many argue it will create more drunkenness, fights and DUIs.
