Man arrested after trying to steal Renaissance Fest sword

LARKSPUR, Colo. — A man from Colorado Springs was arrested after attempting to steal a sword from a performer in the jousting arena at the Renaissance Festival Saturday.

Connor Ward, 22, was apparently drunk and while watching jousting, jumped into the arena and grabbed a sword, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

A friend tackled him and held him in a headlock until police arrived, at which point Ward attempted to hit one of the officers, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured in the incident.

Ward was arrested for attempted assault on an officer, theft and resisting arrest.
