LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. — A missing 18-year-old man from Fort Collins was found dead early Saturday morning near his crashed motorcycle about eight miles southwest of Red Feather Lakes, police say.

The Larimer County County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Nicholas Jekel.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office was notified Friday at 10 p.m. that Jekel went out to ride his motorcycle and never came home, according to a sheriff’s news release Saturday.

Jekel had been riding in the area of Forest Development Road 300 and County Road 86 according to sheriff’s officials. The search, which involved several different agencies, began Friday night and concluded Saturday morning.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
