Body of missing swimmer recovered from Lake Granby

GRAND COUNTY, Colo. — Crews returned to Lake Granby on Monday to continue the search for 31-year-old Christopher Mullinex, who disappeared after diving from a pontoon boat Friday afternoon.

Sheriff Brett Schroetlin announced at 1:07 on Monday afternoon that the recovery of Mullinex’s body was successful.

Authorities detected what they believe to be the man’s body underwater using sonar on Friday, but a dive team was needed to confirm.

The Summit County dive team helped with the search.

“Our sincere condolences and thoughts are with the family and local community who are experiencing this tragedy,”¬†Sheriff Schroetlin said.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office said the man was fishing and swimming with friend when he jumped into the water and did not resurface.
