Man killed in Denver vehicle theft ID’d; suspect still at large

DENVER — The man who was killed while trying to stop an auto theft last week was identified Monday by the Denver Police Department.

William Romo-Rodriguez was ejected from his vehicle while attempting to stop a suspect from stealing it as it was parked in front of El Mecanico at 3161 W. Alameda Ave. about 3:45 a.m. Friday.

Romo-Rodriguez was taken to Denver Health where he died.

Police are treating his death as a homicide and have not released a description of the suspect.
