Body found floating down Waterton Canyon identified as missing motorcyclist

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — A missing motorcyclist who was headed to Breckenridge was identified Monday by the Douglas County Coroner’s Office after his body was found in South Platte River in Waterton Canyon.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person’s report on June 8 for 65-year-old Robert Jacobs, who was last seen in Castle Rock riding a black Harley Davidson motorcycle on his way to Breckenridge.

Several extensive searches were done along different routes from Castle Rock to Breckenridge, including using a helicopter.

On Saturday, a body was found floating down the South Platte River in Waterton Canyon. A witness riding a bicycle along the trail saw the body and reported it to authorities just before 5 p.m.

Officials were still looking  for Jacobs’ Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle with Colorado license plate 445-UVU.
