AURORA, Colo. -- A confrontation outside a bar led to an officer-involved shooting late Sunday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

It happened about 10:30 p.m. outside the Del Norte Bar (9655 E. Montview Blvd.) on a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated waving a gun.

Aurora police said the man refused to get down and was shot several times. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was in serious, but stable condition as of Monday afternoon.

The suspect's weapon was recovered and no other suspects are being sought, police said.

No officers were injured. The identities of the suspect and the officers involved in the shooting were not released because the investigation is ongoing.

The 13-year veteran officer was put on administrative leave, which is standard procedure for officer involved shootings.

Anyone with additional information on this incident was asked to call Det. Todd Frederickson at 303-739-6106.
