ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --  Police were investigating a shooting at 3995 ½ South Bannock Street in Englewood on Tuesday morning around 5:30a.m.

Englewood police told FOX31 Denver that a fight between two men in downstairs apt led to shooting.

The victim shot was a 25-year-old male resident. He had several gun shot wounds and was transported to Swedish Medical Center.

A suspect was in custody and was initially charged with criminal attempt-first degree murder.

Englewood dispatch received a call where the man on the phone said he had just shot a person in his apartment.

The two men involved in this fight were roommates. Officials don't know what caused the fight.

Neighbors in the apartment upstairs said they heard an "altercation," then shots being fired.

Officers were asking for assistance from the Sheridan Police Department and Denver Fire Department.

Nearby streets were closed during the investigation Tuesday morning.
