The Denver Police Department identified the staff member as Cassandra Rein, 27. The students thought she was sleeping, according to a letter sent home to parents about what happened.

The letter from principal Ginger Conroy read in part, "The students thought the staff member was sleeping. They quickly reported it to their teacher and I commend them for doing so! The staff member was taken to the hospital for further evaluation. We hope that she is going to be fine."

Rein was taken to a hospital and arrested for investigation for possession of an unknown controlled substance.

It has not been released what she does for the elementary school.
