DENVER -- Despite afternoon thunderstorms and more rain in the forecast, campsites are booked through Memorial Day weekend.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, camping cancellations across the state were quickly picked up by other eager campers.
Most campsites were booked six months in advance.
"You definitely have to plan ahead or there are no spots available," said Marty Krekow, a camper at Cherry Creek State Park. "Rain or shine, we're out here having fun."
Campers interested in picking up cancellations, will need to call the parks to ask about first come, first serve availability. Any sites that are open and available will be sold by individual parks.AlertMe
