FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas -- Broncos defensive end Antonio Smith is being investigated for alleged child abuse in Texas.

No charges have been filed. TMZ first reported about the alleged incident in Fort Bend County, Texas, near Houston.

TMZ cited sources saying there are multiple incidents dating to 2010.

Smith has played 11 years in the NFL, including five seasons with the Houston Texans from 2009 to 2013 when new Broncos coach Gary Kubiak coached the team.

The 33-year-old played for the Oakland Raiders last season and signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Broncos on April 2.

"Last night, we became aware for the first time of an allegation involving Antonio Smith. We are now in the process of gathering more information," the Broncos said in a statement.
