AMARILLO, Texas — A California woman broke her own eating record in a Texas restaurant Sunday.

Molly Schuyler is a competitive eater who has taken on — and beaten — eating challenges at restaurants around the country.

She beat her own record for most steak eaten in an hour Sunday at The Big Texan steakhouse in Amarillo.

She ate three of the restaurants steak meals, which include a 72-ounce steak, salad, baked potato, shrimp cocktail and a roll.

“I come in thinking I’m going to fail, but you know if I win it’s a lovely parting gift and that’s cool,” Schuyler told KFDA-TV. “I also get free steak so I don’t really lose.”‘

It was a little more than 13 pounds of steak eaten in less than 20 combined minutes.

She finished the first steak in 4 minutes, 18 seconds, beating the previous mark of 4:58 that she set last year.

More than 500 people watched the feat by the 124-pound Schuyler.

She earned a $5,000 reward for successfully completing the challenge. Her accomplishment will be submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records.
