A Denver Public School teacher is getting international attention for something she posted on Twitter. She calls it a “reality check” from her third grade students.  She asked them to finish the phrase, “I wish my teacher knew.” She received honest responses from the kids, some that are funny, some that are heart-wrenching.

Kyle Schwartz teaches at Doull Elementary in Denver’s Harvey Park neighborhood. She began posting the kids’ answers on her Twitter feed.

One student said, “ I wish my teacher knew I don`t have friend (sic) to play with me.” Another wrote,  “I wish my teacher knew sometimes my reading log is not signed because my mom is not around a lot.” Also,  “I wish my teacher knew I don't have pencils at home to do my homework.”

Teachers across the nation are joining in on the has tag #IWishMyTeacherKnew.
