COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The mother of an Air Force Academy cadet who mysteriously died on campus earlier this month is missing.

Ksenia Quiros disappeared Wednesday and rescue teams were still looking for her 24 hours later. She's 46 years old, 5-foot-2 with a small build and blond hair.

According to her husband, she left their Colorado Springs home Wednesday morning and did not take her purse with her.

She is the mother of Cadet First Class Alexandre Quiros, who died two weeks ago after being found in his dorm room at the Academy with injuries.

The cadet's mother drove a truck that was last seen at Stratton Meadows Open Space, near South Suburban and Gold Camp Reservoirs. Search crews looked for her in freezing temperatures overnight and all day Thursday.

Colorado Springs police say they were notified about a suicidal female in the area.
